We aim to make everyone’s stay as comfortable as possible. We have six bedrooms, one of which is on the ground floor and which can be arranged as either a twin or super king-sized bedroom. This room is close to the entrance, is wheelchair friendly and also has a visual fire alarm for the hard of hearing. The other five bedrooms are on the first floor. Here are two doubles, two king-sized suites and a super king-sized room.

We are a gentle 10-minute walk downhill to the seafront, a 20-minute walk to the town centre and harbour, a 10-minute walk to the train station and a 5-minute walk to the Riviera Conference Centre and Torre Abbey. There are bus stops nearby on Falkland Road and along the seafront.

Arrival and Car Parking Facilities

Please advise us of your anticipated arrival time, so that we can help you on your arrival. We’ve got a parking space for six cars, which is monitored with a surveillance camera. There is also unrestricted parking nearby. The entrance is off the car park across a flat tarmac surface. There is a small step up to the front door and a small step over the threshold (easily accessible with a little help). The entrance is lit during the hours of darkness, and the car park and garden are lit until a reasonable hour.

Main Entrance & Reception

The front door has a small step onto a large piece of coconut matting. Flooring in the hall is wooden. On arrival guests are asked to complete the registration form and are then shown their room, and our facilities are explained. There is plenty of literature for days out and places of interest available in the guest lounge and hall. Keys for the front door and rooms are given to guests, so they can come and go as they please.

Public Areas – General (Internal)

The dining room and guest lounge are on the ground floor. The bar is in the dining room, where the flooring is short pile carpet. The lounge has wooden flooring and rugs. Access to the upstairs is via a carpeted staircase, which is of a generous width and within normal limits for rise and tread. There’s a small half landing at the top of the stairs followed by a larger landing with a seating area. Fire call-points are situated in prominent positions both upstairs and downstairs.

Dining Room, bar and lounge

Breakfast is served in the dining room, which is on the ground floor and has plenty of room for disabled guests’ wheelchairs etc. Breakfast consists of a buffet – where guests can help themselves to bread, preserves, cereal, fruit etc. – and a cooked breakfast served to order. We are happy to cater for vegetarians, vegans and any other dietary requirements. Please let us know in advance if you have any special dietary requirements. Our lounge has a comfortable 3-seater sofa, an armchair, a dining table for four people, a smart TV with remote control, a piano and a selection of literature and guide books. The lounge is big enough to accommodate wheelchairs.
There is a small licensed bar on the ground floor, which we can open on request.

All rooms are en suite. One of the upstairs double rooms has a double shower enclosure and power shower, all the rest of the rooms have showers which are either gravity fed or instantaneous. There is a 6″ step up to the shower in the downstairs and upstairs twin/king-sized rooms. All rooms have central heating, complimentary tea and coffee tray, flat-screen Freeview TV, Wi-Fi, fan and a large mirror with lights.

All rooms have en suite facilities. The bathrooms also benefit from vinyl floor covering and all but two have a window. The shower in the downstairs twin room has a grab rail although there’s a 6″ step up to a large ledge and then a normal entrance to the cubical. A shower chair is available on request. The showers in the bathrooms are both instantaneous and gravity/pumped with thermostatic control where necessary.

Grounds and Gardens

There is a garden to the side of the building. It can be lit, and there is plenty of seating available. It’s a flat walk across the car park and there are shallow steps down and also a level area for guests with wheelchairs.

Laundry facilities aren’t available to guests in-house, but there is a local launderette that offers self-service or service washes. We have an iron and ironing board available on the first floor landing.

Nearby Shops

The nearest shops are within a 5-minute walk. There’s a fair selection including a newsagent, butcher, baker, convenience store and more. There are two ways to go, one of them involves steps.

Nearby Leisure Facilities

The Riviera centre with swimming pool and tennis courts as well as aqua aerobics and other activities is 5 minutes away by foot. The facilities are what you would expect from a leisure centre with all disabilities catered for.

Disabled public toilet facilities are available in the nearby Abbey Park and also along the seafront en route to the harbour.
